Privacy Policy
Last updated: 12 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what happens to information when you use the Text & Layout Kit Canva app (the "App"). The short version: the App is a thin client that runs inside Canva. It has no backend of its own, does not collect personal information, and does not transmit your content or inputs to any third-party server other than Canva itself.
1. What the App works with
The App provides three tools, each of which operates only on content you explicitly act on:
- Paragraph spacing reads the text of the text box you have selected so it can re-insert evenly-sized blank lines between paragraphs.
- Wrap text around an image reads the position and size of the elements on your current page, and the text of the relevant text box, so it can add line breaks that flow the text around the image.
- QR code uses the URL you type and the colors and options you choose to generate a QR code image.
All of this processing happens locally inside the Canva iframe in your browser. The App does not maintain its own server and does not log, store, or transmit your text, designs, or inputs anywhere outside Canva.
2. How changes reach your design
To read your selection and write changes back into your design, the App calls Canva's official Apps SDK APIs (selection, design-editing, and asset-upload). Canva processes that content so it can update your canvas. Your use of Canva is governed by Canva's Privacy Policy.
3. What the App does not do
- It does not use cookies or local storage to track you.
- It does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
- It does not contact any third-party server other than Canva.
- It does not access your designs, files, or account information beyond what is necessary to perform the action you explicitly request.
- It does not retain a copy of your content after the action completes.
4. Permissions
The App requests the following scopes from Canva, used only to perform the actions above:
canva:design:content:read— to read your selected text and the elements on your current page.canva:design:content:write— to apply spacing, line breaks, or insert a QR code.canva:asset:private:write— to upload the generated QR code image so it can be placed in your design.canva:brandkit:read— to offer your Brand Kit colors when choosing QR code colors.
5. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
